I am a freelance sound engineer with more than 25 years of experience. I specialize in high quality sound for music. Being a professional studio engineer as well as a professional live sound engineer makes me very versatile.
I have been sound engineer for the artist Tori Amos since 1994. During this period I recorded and mixed and mastered 15 albums / DVD releases, 4 of which were Grammy nominated. The 2011 album “Night of Hunters” received a prestigious German “Echo” classical music award. I also have been Tori’s monitor engineer on 14 world tours.
In 1999 I was awarded the “Monitor Engineer of the Year Award” by the readers of Live! Magazine. In 1997 I did the acoustic design for Martian Engineering, Tori’s recording studio in Cornwall, England. I am also Tori’s live broadcast engineer, having done live broadcast sound on many TV and radio shows across the globe. Through my association with Tori I have worked with some of the world's best musicians and I have worked in many of the world's best studios. Because of Tori’s wide musical scope I’m experienced with different styles of music production.
In between projects for Tori Amos I have worked on various other artists recordings and live shows and tours. I also provide an online mixing and mastering service. I have a London based studio space with an extensive collection of high quality audio equipment.
Since 2007 I have been a freelance lecturer, primarily teaching at London based Alchemea College of Audio Engineering. I lecture in both live and studio sound. My enthusiasm for high quality audio, my understanding of audio engineering at a scientific level and my extensive professional experience make me a popular lecturer with the students.
